Raffi's Place.

for Adrian's mom's birthday we went to Raffi's Place in Glendale.  This is one of Glendale's hidden gems.  They serve Middle Eastern food, and the specialty is their kabobs.

Their complimentary bread is the traditional flat unleavened bread, which you can eat with butter or  seasoned onions and herbs.  We ordered some hummus and also a dip which was a mixture of eggplant and tomatoes. It looks like baby food but it's delicious.
Adrian had the Rack of Lamb, which is marinated and broiled with bell pepper and onions, and served on a bed of fluffy Basmati rice. He loved it so much that he finished every bit down to the bones.
I had the Koobideh of Chicken kabob, which consists of ground chicken mixed with special spices and charbroiled, also served on a bed of rice. It's pretty tasty--not too spicy, and it didn't have that strong Middle Eastern herb flavor that I hate. I didn't finish it though, I made the mistake of filling up on the bread. Don't do this!!!
Service is okay. It took a while to get a table since it was a busy Sunday night and there were about 30 of us in our party. It was about a 30 minute wait. Atmosphere is quaint, with an open air alfresco feel to it.  The walls are painted with murals of Mediterranean landscape.  Very cute and romantic.
Price ranges from about $12-$20 per person, depending on what you order. View the full menu here http://www.sporq.com/glendale/raffisplace/211ebroadway?view=zoo.
You can park either in their lot, which is valet, or in the Exchange parking lot (90 minutes free), or if you're lucky, street parking.

Here's the birthday girl with Adrian and Ate Leigh. Happy Birthday!!!
Look how stuffed Ate Sunshine is. This place is one of those places that make you feel so full that you wanna go for a long walk afterwards.
