in the midst of this slumdog millionaire craze, we were craving some bomb indian food. there is this indian buffet up in frisco that we used to go to when i (Rose) was going to nursing school up there, but we haven't found an indian restaurant that compares to it here in los angeles. that is, until now. with the help of the handy yelp, we found this quaint little hole-in-the-wall spot in la canada, on Verdugo, called India's Flavor.
first thing that's bomb: it's a lunch buffet. for $8.49. all you can eat. 'nuff said.
second thing: the atmosphere. two cute little elderly indian ladies dressed in traditional indian wardrobe greet u. there's a plasma tv playing bollywood movies for your viewing pleasure. it's a small spot, nice and cozy. parking is easy too.
third but not last: the tasty food of course. along with the buffet comes the naan, the traditional indian flatbread. but this restaurant offers two versions-plain and garlic. and let us tell you, the garlic is mouth watering, melt-in-your mouth good. steaming hot.
and then on to the buffet. we're not familiar of course with the names of these dishes, so pictures will have to do all the explaining.
this first dish had peas and potatoes, (a vegetarian dish!) which was actually yummy. hey, who knew you could enjoy your veggies? then there's a chicken dish that is similar to the Filipino dish apritada. then a creamed spinach dish, my (Adrian's) fave. then your tandoori roasted chicken.

you all should be aware that I (Rose) am not fond of curry. there's just something about it that i don't like. i feel like it smells like a foot. but the curry used here I loved. very mild but still flavorful.
last but not least, dessert. after all the garlic, you definitely want something sweet in your mouth. so the indian rice pudding does the trick. it's a mild pudding made with milk, sugar, and rice. has some sliced almonds too. not too sweet, just the right amount.
for every restaurant we go to, we'll be giving a rating. We both (Adrian & Rose) will both have our own. here's our first:
Adrian: 8 out of 10
Rose: 9 out of 10
